“A change is as good as a rest”. It’s an old saying, isn’t it? One usually attributed to having a short break away, even a day out.
Here at the “Friend” we’ve had a huge change, what with moving from our premises at the Kingsway to down here in the town centre.
It’s been interesting how much this one action has triggered others, for me and, I’m sure, my colleagues. Our working environment is new and, let me tell you, very nice! It’s also quieter, one thing which always helps my concentration.
But on a personal level, I’m now living very close to my work, which has impacted hugely on my working day. I can get up later, get home earlier, even walk home for lunch! Although I have to tackle a steep hill to do it I feel refreshed and ready to start my afternoon’s work.
This improved sense of wellbeing in my working life seems to have spilled over to my personal life. Being energised means I’m suddenly keen to change my poor eating habits for healthier food.

I daresay I’ll have brought some of my bad habits with me from the old building, such as succumbing to the delights of the tuck shop when my energy slumps (usually about three in the afternoon). But I’m on the way!
