I happened to be watching a television programme recently when I was particularly struck by the words of a completely unknown elderly lady living in a tiny village in a distant country.
After undergoing a charity-sponsored operation to remove long-endured cataracts, she opened her eyes and a slow smile of pure joy crept across her face.
“My heart is filled with light,” she marvelled.
Just six simple words, but they raise my spirits every time I think of them.
May we never take for granted miracles around us, nor the people who enable us to appreciate them.
