Naomi from The Wool Shop is back with her weekly Stitch of the Week

A great stitch for beginners who want something a bit different but aren’t quite read to move on from knit, purl. I love to use this stitch to knit up big cosy throws or blankets with super chunky wool and finish off with giant pom poms or tassels on the corners.

Cast on multiples of 4 stitches + 1

Row 1: Knit 1, * purl 1, knit 1; rep from * to end

Row 2: Purl 1, * knit 1, purl 1; rep from * to end

Row 3: Purl 1, * knit 3, purl 1; rep from * to end

Row 4: Knit 1, * purl 3, knit 1; rep from * to end

Row 5:  Knit 1, * purl 1, knit 1 rep from * to end

Row 6: Purl 1, * knit 1, purl 1; rep from * to end

Row 7: Knit 2, * purl 1, knit 3; rep from * to last 3 sts, purl 1, knit 2

Row 8: Purl 2, * knit 1, purl 3; rep from * to last 3 sts, knit 1, purl 2

Repeat rows 1 – 8
