A Closer Look: This Week We’re Loving!

this week we're loving

Every week on page 7, you’ll come across one of our favourite features of recent years: This Week We’re Loving.

This page is filled with snippets of info, events and products, divided into nine categories. There’s always an animal, something to watch, something to read.

Plenty to ensure that there’s a nice mix of material for you, our readers.

It’s like nine mini-features on one page!

Each member of the team takes a turn to put it together.

Although we all have our favourite ways of finding bits and bobs, it does take a good bit of time to create, so dividing the responsibility helps us keep it fresh.

I was on the August issues (it was a five-week month), and now Lisa’s working on the September ones. The rota carries on around the team.

The Christmas issues are usually easier to put together, because there’s so much going on!

I’ve got December this year. It should be nice and straightforward for me, as there are two double issues this year thanks to the way our on-sale dates fall.

Sometimes we come up with ideas for the page in the Features team meeting.

One of us might have an idea for a full feature that ends up working better as one of these snippets. Sometimes it’s vice-versa, and a mini idea might become something bigger!

That’s the great thing about working in features. A good idea is rarely wasted, just rolled around until it finds a proper home.
