Editor’s Diary: Just Walking The, Err, Sheep?

editors diary

Back in the heady days of last summer, when we were all allowed a bit of freedom, I shared my visit to Polly Pullar’s home in Aberfeldy in another Editor’s Diary post.

It was lovely to catch up with her and see all the animals. I met Cloudy, the little red deer calf Polly rescued, and renewed my acquaintance with the dogs, sheep and Ruby the deer.

One of the highlights was taking Ronnie the sheep for a walk!

He looked super smart in his little headcollar, made specially for him by one of Polly’s friends.

He loves exploring the countryside, and he’s quite partial to a visit inside the house, too.

Now you might think that is quite an unusual thing to do. You don’t see many sheep out and about on a lead.

Or do you?

I remembered Ronnie while out for my weekend walk in the hills behind my home.

After days of relentless rain, I needed to get out whatever the weather!

It was bitterly cold and snowing lightly, but that didn’t deter me.

And nor did it deter the devoted animal lover I encountered.

Can you guess what he was doing? Yes, he was taking his pet sheep for a walk on a lead. In the snow.

It made my day!
