Editor’s Diary: Stormy Weather
It’s a stormy Editor’s Diary this week!
Here on the east coast of Scotland we’ve been spared the extreme high temperatures some parts have sweltered under lately. But that doesn’t mean the weather’s been calm!
Last week we experienced the wildest thunder storm I have ever known.
From around 7 p.m. until 9 a.m. the following morning, it raged over my part of the world.
Continuous thunder crashed and boomed overhead, shaking the house. Lightning lit up the sky, hour after hour. And the rain! Two months’ worth fell in one night.
Normally, spectacular storms are more common in warmer climates than Scotland. Last year, when I visited China, there were some impressive bursts of thunder and lightning. But this one outdid them all in duration and intensity.
Needless to say, I got very little sleep. Neither did my cats, who were distinctly ruffled the next morning.
When I awoke to news reports of road closures and flooding, I felt very glad to be working from home.
I wouldn’t have fancied driving to Dundee while the storm was still in full force.
Christmas is just round the corner . . .
Instead, I had the surreal experience of listening to samples for this year’s Christmas CD in my kitchen!
This is usually a highlight of the office year, with the whole team listening in and helping make the final choice. I missed their input!
To find out what I finally chose, you’ll have to wait for Special 200, on sale November 11. The CD will come with our popular Christmas Special, priced £3.99.
The best way to be sure you get a copy is to subscribe. We have a great offer at the moment, and you’ll find details by clicking here.
I can’t believe we’re talking about Christmas already!
