‘The Thursday Murder Club’ film is now coming to UK cinemas for a limited time ahead of its Netflix release. Watch the first teaser trailer!

Fans without a Netflix subscription are in luck! The streaming site has just announced that screenings will run for a week or two starting August 22. The movie will then hit Netflix on August 28.

It appears Netflix had no choice after many avid fans expressed their desire to see the film on the big screen.

‘The Thursday Murder Club’ follows four spirited retirees: ex-spy Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), former union activist Ron (Pierce Brosnan), psychiatrist Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley), and nurse Joyce (Celia Imrie). Age may have forced them into a slower pace of life in Coopers Chase retirement village, but their weekly hobby of solving cold cases in the ‘jigsaw room’ takes a thrilling turn when a real murder happens on their doorstep.

Together, they waste no time plunging into an unexpected and dangerous real-time investigation.

The initial teaser showcases the group’s dynamic, blending humour with suspense. Joyce’s enthusiastic exclamation, “Now we’ve got a real case to solve. Isn’t it wonderful?” perfectly encapsulates the story.

‘The Thursday Murder Club’ film brings together a stellar ensemble cast of famous British actors under the direction of Chris Columbus, known for ‘Home Alone’ and the early ‘Harry Potter’ films.

Joining the main quartet are many other notable stars including David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, and Tom Ellis. The screenplay is penned by Katy Brand and Suzanne Heathcote, with production by Columbus, Jennifer Todd, and Steven Spielberg.

While the trailer has been well-received, some fans have noted differences between the on-screen depiction of Coopers Chase retirement village and their imaginings from the book. Nevertheless, the film promises a blend of wit, charm, and mystery, which celebrates the vibrancy and ingenuity of its senior sleuths – staying true to the essence of Osman’s novel.

‘The Thursday Murder Club’ is poised to be a standout addition this year in Netflix line-up and now in cinemas across the UK. A true cosy crime story on paper, now brought to life on the big screen!
