Features Sneak Peek: May 18, 2019 issue
Our May 18 issue has some amazing features in it.
The cover feature is a glorious walk with Willie Shand near the Fife coast by Kinghorn. Flowers and wildlife abound, and he’s got a rare day for the walk. Just like the lovely weather we’re having now!
Net Result
Polly Pullar is taking a look at the subject of netting. You might have seen it pop up in the news recently — they’re even discussing it in government. Some developers have been netting off hedges and trees to prevent birds nesting before they develop an area, but nature advocates are concerned about the impact this is having on our already fragile bird populations.
Storybook Wings
In this gorgeous wee feature, we’re looking at an organisation that records members of the R.A.F. reading bedtime stories, so their children can listen to them while they’re away serving. It’s a touching read.
Notes From My Garden
Alexandra Campbell’s also thinking about the environment in this week’s “Notes”, as she looks at the alternatives to peat-based composts. She also had a chance to meet Heston Blumenthal, who was talking barbecue tips on the release of his new garden oven.
And More . . .
We’ve got recipes for National Vegetarian Week, which was also the theme of this week’s newsletter. If you haven’t already, you can find the sign up on the website homepage.
Colleen’s talking about looking after your hands in the health, and we’ve puzzles and a catch up with Pets As Therapy duo, Emma and Hansie.
