Get Involved With Our Features

If you’re ever on our Twitter stream, you’ll know that we’re often asking our followers to get involved and submit fresh fiction.

But it’s not only the Fiction team that are always on the hunt for something new and interesting! Here in the Features team, we love to hear your stories, too.

Specifically this sort of thing:

You’ll have noticed these features appearing regularly in the mag. They appear in every second issue of the month, but more often if we have great stories to tell.

This is for the people who have done something remarkable. Walked round Britain for charity, or set up a social enterprise that helps kids in care.

Or gave up an ordinary job for a life herding llamas in South America.

These are the folk we’d love to speak to. If you know anyone like that — or if you are someone like that — do get in touch with us.

Have a look at our guidelines as well for some of the basics on style, length and where to submit to.

You can always email us at the usual address with just an idea, too.

An email is best because we’ll never make a decision on the spot, and we can then take it along to our next Features team meeting.

Our monthly Talking Point pages pick up a subject from our Facebook page.

It’ll be a post about recent news or something we’ve been talking about in the office. We love to hear your opinions!

We pick some of those comments to feature in the magazine, so why not pop on to the page and get involved?

Day In The Life

In our Specials, the “Day In The Life” feature covers folks with jobs from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

It’s always interesting to read about what other people do for a living, and from chimney sweeps to milliners, we’ve had a lot in the time we’ve been running this feature.

If there’s anything you can think of that we haven’t covered and you’d love to know about, or if you do something you think our readers would like to know about, give us a shout!

Some of these real life stories are among the most interesting articles we print.

From the “Dad’s Army” extra we chatted to a few months ago to a professional forager, we’ve met some incredible people over the years.

Who would you like the rest of our readers to meet?

If you’re a fan of the “Friend”, get involved today!
