What Is Britain’s Favourite Holiday Destination?

Holiday Destination

As you’ll see from the “Friend” travel pages, we love nothing more than a great British holiday destination.

And, according to a new survey from photo printing specialist CEWE, so do you!

83% of Brits who took part said they take an annual holiday in the UK, with the majority (63%) revealing convenience and cost were key considerations when choosing where to go.

Peace, isolation, exploring somewhere new, and — most importantly — beautiful scenery were major driving factors for those choosing to ditch the passport and holiday at home.

Inspiration

And to provide a little inspiration, the study also revealed the the UK’s top 10 most beautiful locations.

It’s good news for the South West: Cornwall, Devon and Dorset were the top “staycation” locations in the country. Scotland, on the other hand, only has one entry.

We think Willie would disagree!

The top 10 staycation locations were:

  1. Cornwall
  2. Devon
  3. Dorset
  4. Somerset
  5. Northumberland
  6. Norfolk
  7. Yorkshire
  8. Edinburgh
  9. London
  10. Lancashire

If you want the best pictures, however, it seems Scotland is the place to go. Five of the top 10 most photogenic locations can be found north of the border, including the gorgeous Isle of Skye.

The top 10 most photogenic locations were:

  1. St Michael’s Mount
  2. Isle of Skye
  3. Glen Coe
  4. Snowdonia
  5. Loch Lomond
  6. Bibury, The Cotswolds
  7. Orkney
  8. Loch Ness
  9. Torquay
  10. Bamburgh Beach

“We already know from the amazing images we receive on a daily basis as part of our photo competition, and the beautiful photobooks our customers make, that the UK is bursting with amazing staycation locations,” Clare Moreton, Digital Marketing Director at CEWE, said.

“The UK is spoilt for choice when it comes to beauty spots, and this really comes across with our research. The hard bit now is choosing where to visit first!”

The CEWE website is home to a range of travel guides, complete with best spots to take stunning photos, the most delicious eateries the UK has to offer, and hints and tips on what to do and where to stay.
