“Not Alone”: A Poem To Comfort And Hearten Us

poem

A good poem can help brighten any day.

John Darley, frequent “Friend” poet and Pocket Novel author, sent us this poem, expressing how he feels about the situation we find ourselves in at the moment.

Although originally not intended for publication, John has given his permission for us to share it with you.

In this troubling time, we hope you find it heartening and comforting, as we did.

Not Alone

We haven’t a choice,

we’ve all got to do it,

and if we comply

then we will get through it.

And we’re not alone

in these self-isolations,

God shows He’s near

through Nature’s creations.

I stand at the window

in my sitting room

looking at flowers and trees

now in bloom.

By day the sun shines,

by night the stars, too

and I feel, despite all,

some of Heaven’s on view.

John Darley
