Health Bite: Green Tea Galore

Cast iron teapot with two cups of green tea.

Of all types of tea, green tea boasts the richest supply of antioxidants, which means that it could help boost immune function.

Green tea may help minimise the effects of bladder cancer, oesophageal cancer, inflammatory diseases and diabetes.

In fact, in parts of Asia where it is popular, green tea drinking is thought to be one reason why rates of cardiovascular disease and lung cancer are so low.

Increasingly, studies are showing that it could also be a weight loss aid because it has a thermogenic effect, somehow increasing the amount of energy the body burns off, aiding fat loss while maintaining muscle.

Drink it with a squeeze of lemon juice to enhance those nutritional benefits.
