Liz shares her knitting preview of what’s in our March 5 issue, on sale now.

We have a long-line gilet for a child in this week’s issue. Our gilet features a soft bouclé yarn, which is lovely to wear and looks great.

This is the thing for in-between days and comes in five sizes ranging from 3-4 years to 11-12 years. Chest sizes range from 53/56 cm (21/22 ins) to 76/79 cm (30/31 ins).

Actual size is around 22/19 cm (8½/7½) ins bigger, giving a comfortable, fashionable fit.

The yarn featured is Rowan Soft Bouclé. It has a textured appearance and is a cotton, alpaca, wool and polyamide mix which gives it its softness.

The shades featured are Shrimp (601) and Natural (602). If you would like to view the other shades in the range or find out where your nearest stockist is, visit www.knitrowan.com.

We have graded this gilet as easy; it has minimal shaping and works up quickly on 6 mm (No. 4) knitting needles.

The design is taken from the book, “MODE Mini Knits” by Quail Studio. It is available online or from good bookshops.

We are sure this gilet will be a winner with the younger members of your family and we hope you enjoy knitting it, too.
