Knitting Preview: July 1, 2023 Issue

We have a beautiful knitted shawl for you in this week’s issue.

Our shawl is the perfect summer cover up for all occasions.

We have picked a beautiful hand-dyed, lace-weight yarn, Manos Marina in the shade Shantung.

Manos del Uruguay is a non-profit organisation that supports local women to make a living without having to leave their villages and children.

The women spin and dye the yarns and each skein comes with a tag bearing the name of the skilled artisan who make it.

To make our shawl, you will need:

  • one ball
  • 3.75 mm and 4 mm knitting needles

You may find it easier to switch to a long circular needle as you work.

The shawl is knitted in a mix of lace rows and stocking-stitch and we have graded it an intermediate project.

It is the work of designer Monica Russel of www.theknitknacks.co.uk and there are details in the magazine on how to order a yarn pack from her to make your shawl.

Why not treat yourself to a little designer luxury, and make and wear this versatile and eye-catching wrap?

Find the full pattern for this beautiful knitted in the July 1, 2023 issue of “The People’s Friend”. On sale this Wednesday!
