Welcome to this week’s knitting preview!

In our October 5 issue, “The People’s Friend” will bring keen knitters the pattern for this sharp collared top with a textured pattern.

Our top is ideal for this time of year as the seasons change.

Worked in Stylecraft Life DK in Mustard (2496), it combines comfort with classic styling.

Instructions come in six sizes ranging from 76/81 cm (30/32 ins) to 127/132 (50/52 cm).

Actual size is 13 – 8 cm (5 – 3 ins) bigger, so quite a fitted style.

This is marked intermediate, as the textured panel uses a 40-row repeat.

There are no difficult stitches, you just need to pay attention and keep counting.

The neat little collar in moss-stitch adds a finishing touch, and the buttoned opening at the back adds extra details.

The yarn is available in over 40 different shades.

If mustard is not to your taste, there will certainly be another that is.

The 25% wool, 75% acrylic mix is a good choice for everyday wear. Check out the full range at www.stylecraft-yarns.co.uk.

Finally, as well as sporting lots of good design features, this top is great value, too.

You can make this top for between £12 and £15. A real winner!
