Knitting Preview: April 4, 2020 Issue

knitting preview

We have a classic sweater for you in this week’s knitting preview.

We are often asked for a versatile double knitting top with a raglan sleeve so we are delighted to bring you this lovely design.

The front and back have cables and a staggered eyelet design worked against a stocking-stitch background. This is worked over a 20-row repeat. The stitches can be a little but fiddly to begin with but they soon become very familiar. For this reason, we have graded this as intermediate.

The three-quarter length sleeves are worked in stocking-stitch.

Instructions come in six sizes ranging from 76/81 cm (30/32 ins) to 127/132 (50/52 ins). Actual size is 12/7 cm (4½/2½ ins) bigger so we would recommend working your usual size. There is a little shaping on both front and back for a flattering effect.

A classic design needs a classic yarn and we have worked this one in Rico Design Essentials Merino DK, shade Ivory (22). If you prefer another colour, there are plenty more to choose from. To view the range and/or to order direct, visit

We think this is the perfect design to cross the seasons. For smart or casual wear, it is ideal.
