Welcome to the crochet preview for the upcoming issue of “The People’s Friend”.

We know fans will love this our lacy top, an ideal decorative layer for this time of year.

It is worked in Scheepjes Skies Heavy, 100% Premium Blend Cotton in Cirrostratus (106), and we have listed www.blacksheepwools.com and www.deramores.com as stockists if you have difficulty sourcing it.

In addition, the designer states that you can use any Aran weight yarn that works to the same tension.

We are suggesting this is an intermediate design.

Work the lace pattern over a 12-row repeat in rows for the front and back. The sleeves are rounds of treble crochet.

There are no tricky stitches. Double crochet and treble stitches are worked throughout. So just take care counting and working decreases.

Looking for more garments to crochet? We’ve taken this lovely design from the book, “My Crochet Wardrobe” by Cassie Ward, published by Tuva Publishing, RRP £14.99. It is available online or from all good bookshops.

So why not dig out your 4 mm and 5.5 mm hooks and get ready to crochet!
