Knitting Preview: August 1, 2020 Issue

knitting preview

In this week’s knitting preview, we’re again asking “Friend” readers to support our Love Darg Campaign.

Yes, once again we are asking our generous readers to make something to help cats in the care of Cats Protection. This week we are asking for simple squares to be knitted or crocheted.

These squares are given to cats in the care of Cats Protection to act as comforters. Comforters are security blankets for cats. Cats are given one when they come into the care of Cats Protection and it goes with them when they move on. It is something familiar to help the cats settle into a new place.

These comforters are simply squares measuring around 25 cm x 25 cm, which can be knitted or crocheted. This is a great way to use up odds and ends. You can work in DK or thicker yarns and you can mix colours as long as you sew in ends securely.

If you plan to make many squares, Cats Protection will also welcome blankets made of squares stitched very firmly together.

Before you start, we do ask that you check the safety instructions, which lists the things to avoid such as fluffy yarns and yarns with beads and sequins.
