Knitting Preview: January 8, 2022 Issue

cabled sweater

We have a bright, cabled sweater for you this week.

We’ve gone green with this design, which is worked in Rico Essentials Merino DK, a 100% wool yarn which will be both comfortable and cosy. There are lots of other colours available as well as our shade (Green 042) and you can view them and order direct from www.ethelandem.com.

Sizes range from 78/81 cm (30/32 ins) to 127/132 cm (50/52 ins). Actual size is around 15/12 cm (6½/4½ ins) larger. This will give an easy fit if you knit your usual size.

We have graded this sweater as Intermediate as you do need to be able to work a cable pattern. You work the cables over a 14-row pattern and if you are unsure, why not practise working this 14-row repeat first?

As this is a drop shoulder design, there is very little shaping needed, front or back.

The sleeves have the usual increases and then 11 rows to shape the top.

The neckband is worked in rib and then folded over.

This is a lovely unisex sweater with sizes to suit from teenager upwards. It is the perfect way to stay cosy at this time of the year.
