Knit A V-Neck Cardigan Preview: Jan 28, 2023

Pastel pink and purple knitted v-neck cardigan draped over a leather sofa

We show you how to knit a V-neck cardigan this week.

Difficulty: Intermediate

How To Knit A V-Neck Cardigan

Our cardigan is worked in Rico Creative Alpaca Melange Aran, a lovely yarn with alpaca for softness and warmth, perfect for this time of year.

The shade we have used is Pastel (003), a mix of pinks and pale blues enhanced by tweedy flecks of contrasting shades. You can view the yarn and order direct from www.woolnstuff.co.uk.

The cardigan comes in eight sizes ranging from 81 cm (32 ins) to 117 cm (46 ins). Actual size is approx. 15 cm (6 ins) bigger, giving a comfortable fit over a layer.

We have graded it as an intermediate design.

The all-over stocking stitch and lattice pattern is worked over multiples of 8 sts and 26 rows, front and back. This features twist stitches and it is important to keep track of where you are in the pattern.

If you have not worked a Left or Right Twist stitch before, it is a good idea to practise first.

Finally, to complete the cardigan, you will need six or seven buttons. We have chosen a greyish flat button for contrast but there are many different styles out there.

This is the perfect cardigan for all seasons.
