We have a modern take on the traditional gansey this week.

Our gansey-inspired sweater is worked in a DK yarn for a lighter feel and instructions are given for six sizes ranging from 78/81 cm (30/32 ins) to 127/132 cm (50/52) ins. Actual size is around 17/12 cm (6½/4½ ins) bigger which gives a comfortable fit.

The design is unisex making it suitable for everyone.

We have worked our gansey in Style craft Life DK in the shade Mustard (2496). This is an acrylic and wool mix which is comfortable to wear but practical, too. There is a good selection of colours to choose from if you prefer something else.

Difficulty Level

We have graded our gansey-inspired sweater as intermediate.

The diamond panel is worked over a 13 sts and 12-row pattern and alternated with blackberry stitch panels. There is a note in the instructions to guide you through the cast offs for the shoulders. The sleeves are worked from the top down.

We think this is the perfect sweater for the approaching cooler days and a good choice for indoors or out.

We hope you love it, too!
