Welcome to this week’s “Friend” knitting preview.

In our latest issue, keep the little ones warm and cosy with our two-piece cabled set.

Who could resist this outfit? We have a cabled top and matching joggers that are perfect for babies and toddlers.

There are five sizes available ranging from 0 – 3 months to 12 – 18 months. We give actual sizes, too, so you can decide which size suits best.

The yarn used is Rowan Baby Cashsoft Merino 4-ply in Silver (106), a soft wool, acrylic and cashmere mix which is perfect for babies.

The quantities needed vary from four to seven 50-gram balls. There are 20 shades to choose from and if you would like to view them, or find your local stockist, visit www.knitrowan.com.

We have graded this as easy and the set is worked in a combination of rib, stocking-stitch and cable pattern. Nothing too daunting!

If you enjoy making baby and toddler outfits, we’ve taken our set from the book, “Essential Baby Knits” published by Quail Studio, ISBN: 9781916244504, RRP £9.50.

It is available from all good bookshops and online and has a selection of patterns for babies and toddlers.

Looking ahead, our cabled set would make a lovely Christmas gift, too.
