What Does The “Friend” Mean To You?
A while back we asked an important question: what does the “Friend” mean to you?
We have loved reading your stories and can’t wait to share them during our 150th birthday celebrations next year!
However we’d like more stories, we would like to have enough stories share throughout the whole of 2019!
We want to hear all about what the “Friend” means to you. Maybe you’ve been a reader for many years, and first picked up the magazine as a young woman?
Perhaps you’ve started buying it quite recently in memory of a much-missed mum or grandma?
Does it bring back memories of home, or has it helped you through difficult times in life?
Or perhaps you used to work on the “Friend” or another of DC Thomson Media’s titles and picked up your first copy of “The People’s Friend” during your time there?
However you came to find the “Friend”, and whatever part it’s played in your life, we’d love to hear about it.
We will be showcasing your letters and pictures throughout the year, in the magazine, on our website and in our weekly newsletter.
We thought we would share this lovely story with you early:
“When I married at the age of twenty-one, I visited a newsagent’s close to my new home and asked the assistant what magazine they could recommend.
She told me to try “The People’s Friend” and, of course, I am still reading your publication all these years later – I’m now seventy-six.
Your magazine has changed over the years and, I feel, has only improved.
I have knitted many lovely patterns for my family, too. There is something in the magazine for everyone – too much to write down – and it’s well worth the money. Ten out of ten!”
