Alvaston, Here We Come!

Alvaston

These cold, dreary February days are being lightened for Jacki and me by the thought that, in a few months’ time, we’ll be back in Cheshire, sampling the best that Warner Hotels has to offer at Alvaston Hall.

This Grade II listed Victorian property is a half-timbered country house that’s located just five minutes from Nantwich. We were lucky enough to visit them last year on our very first “Friend” break. We came back to Dundee full of praise for everything about this weekend break: the food; the staff; the rooms; the entertainment . . .

So imagine how thrilled we were to be invited to take part in “The People’s Friend” birthday party on May 31, when the entire weekend will be “Friend”-themed!

As well as craft sessions and a tour of the gardens, we’ll get a chance to hear our popular travel writer, Neil McAllister, talk about his beloved Cheshire.

Angela, our editor, will be present the whole weekend to meet the guests, and there will be a chance to learn more about our record-breaking 150-year history.

We can promise lots of extra activities and surprises, too. We’re sure this will be a weekend to remember, so why not book your place now and join us? Those of you who have sampled Warner holidays before will know you’re going to have a great time, and for those who’ve never been, what a treat you have in store!

If only May could come a bittie sooner . . .

Margaret is a sub-editor within the Production Team on the "Friend". Her main job is to work on the stories and make sure the magazine leaves us in its best possible guise. When not doing that, however, she either has her head buried in the old “Friend” volumes or is out and about giving talks or going on Warner trips (fab!). She hates cheese.
